Daniel Nicolae Djamo is a Romanian performance artist, visual artist and filmmaker, based in Nogent sur Vernisson, Loiret, France; and Gent, Belgium where he has a work studio. In 2018 he obtained a PhD in Visual Arts at the Art History and Theory Department of Bucharest National University of Arts. He holds an MA and BA of Arts in Photography and Video Art. In 2013 he won the Henkel Art Award, CEE Young Artist’s Prize for the most promising Central and Eastern European artist of the year, offered by the Museum of Modern Art from Vienna (mumok) and The Austrian Chancellery (at mumok, Vienna). It was followed by the ESSL award CEE offers through the ESSL museum (in Klosterneuburg, Vienna). In 2015, he won the Special Award for Documentary Film presented by the Romanian Filmmakers Union; and nominated for the 2015 Best Debut for a feature film (Opera Prima award) by the Romanian Filmmakers Union. Some of his recent solo exhibitions were in Strasbourg (Le Shadok, 2018), Taipei (URS 127 – Art Factory, 2018), Celje (Celje Centre of Contemporary Art – Likovni Salon, 2018), Ravensburg (NRVK – Neuer Ravensburger Kunstverein, 2018), Dortmund (Kunstlerhaus Dortmund, 2017).
