The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. The institute promotes knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation. It conveys a comprehensive image of Germany by providing information about cultural, social and political life in Germany. The cultural and educational programmes of the institute encourage intercultural dialogue, enable cultural involvement, strengthen the development of structures in civil society and foster worldwide mobility. With the network of Goethe-Instituts, Goethe Centres, cultural societies, reading rooms, and exam and language learning centres, the institute have been the first point of contact for many with Germany for over sixty years. Together with Turkish partners, the Goethe-Institutes in Turkey organise a wide range of cultural events that not only reflect trends in Germany but also promote the intercultural exchange of artists {f rom} all disciplines. The events and cooperation's are not limited to the cities of Istanbul, Ankara and İzmir, but the goal is to connect the eastern part of Turkey to the discussion in the western cities and to engage in dialogue, especially with the minorities.
