The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ankara is the diplomatic mission in Turkey. Together with the Consulate General in Istanbul and the Honorary Consulates in İzmir, Gaziantep, Marmaris and Antalya, the embassy forms the Dutch Diplomatic Network in Turkey. The Department for Press and Cultural Affairs gives shape to the Dutch international cultural policy in Turkey. Cultural attaché Quirine van der Hoeven is responsible for culture at the Embassy and Consulate General. The objectives for culture in the period 2017-2020 are to bring the best of the Dutch culture to Turkey, stimulate sustainable cultural cooperation, and to contribute to the cultural infrastructure in Turkey. The embassy and consulate support and organise cultural projects that use culture to connect people and make room for arts and culture, and facilitate projects that use design for societal challenges, such as waste and circular economy. Programmes targeted to children, youth and students usually have a special focus on film, literature and performing arts. The year 2018 saw 50 projects made possible, all over Turkey.
